The remuneration of Ward Councillors is determined in accordance with the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Act, 1998 (Act No. 20 of 1998), and the upper limits are set by the national government. The final remuneration package for the 2027-2032 term will be determined by the municipal council, in line with the relevant legislation and national determinations.

The remuneration package typically includes:

•A basic salary, determined by the grade of the municipality.
•Allowances for travel, communication, and constituency work.
•Contributions to a pension fund and medical aid.
