Councillor Tinus van den Berg is a senior Democratic Alliance (DA) leader serving Ward 3, which includes the coastal towns of Stilbaai-West and Jongensfontein. His extensive political and administrative experience is highlighted by his election as the Speaker of the Hessequa Municipal Council in July 2024, following a successful tenure as the Executive Deputy Mayor. His formal expertise lies in governance, legislative oversight, and technical municipal operations. As Speaker, he is responsible for maintaining order in council meetings, ensuring ethical compliance, and overseeing the functionality of ward committees across the municipality. Previously, he chaired the Technical Services Portfolio Committee, overseeing major infrastructure projects. His achievements include championing the upgrade of critical water and road infrastructure in the rapidly growing coastal regions, and ensuring strict adherence to the municipal Code of Conduct while fostering transparent public participation processes [1] [3].
