Alderman Jeffrey Donson is a seasoned politician with extensive experience in local government within the Western Cape. Representing the Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa (ICOSA), he currently serves as both the Ward 1 Councillor (covering Nissenville and parts of Ladismith) and the Executive Mayor of Kannaland Municipality. Donson has held the mayoral position across multiple terms over the past two decades, navigating complex coalition politics to maintain leadership. His work experience is deeply rooted in municipal governance, strategic policy development, and community activism. As Mayor, he oversees the implementation of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and leads the Mayoral Committee. Despite facing significant legal and political controversies throughout his career—including motions of no confidence and legal convictions—he has consistently managed to retain his political influence and mayoral chain. His achievements focus on steering the municipality through challenging financial recoveries and maintaining basic service delivery.
