Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Required

Candidates for the position of Ward Councillor must meet the following requirements:

•Be a South African citizen and registered voter.
•Be a resident of the ward they wish to represent.

•Meet the requirements for election as set out in the Local Government: Municipal Electoral Act, 2000 (Act No. 27 of 2000).

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:

•Strong leadership and communication skills.
•A deep commitment to community service.
•Knowledge of local government legislation and processes.
•The ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
•Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
