Cllr Jean Safers is a seasoned public servant and a prominent leader within the George
Municipal Council. He currently serves as the Mayoral Committee Member (MMC) for
Human Settlements, a portfolio that is critical to the development and social welfare of the
George community. His professional background is rooted in community advocacy and
public administration, with years of experience in managing housing projects and
facilitating community development initiatives. Cllr Safers has been instrumental in the
implementation of the Integrated Residential Development Programme (IRDP) in George,
focusing on providing sustainable housing solutions for low-income families. His
achievements include the successful oversight of numerous housing handovers and the
strengthening of partnerships between the municipality and provincial housing
departments. He holds qualifications in public management and has completed several
